Bhubaneswar: Congress workers and leaders staged a protest in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, condemning alleged derogatory statements and death threats made by BJP and Shiv Sena leaders against Rahul Gandhi.
A large group of Congress members marched from Congress Bhawan to Kharvel Nagar police station, and filed a formal complaint against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, UP Minister Raghuraj Singh, BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah, and Shiv Sena (Shinde) MLA Sanjay Gaikwad.
The protesters demanded legal action against these leaders, accusing them of targeting Gandhi with personal attacks as the Congress Party gains momentum under his leadership as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
They claimed that the party has successfully challenged schemes like UPSC lateral entry and changes to the SC/ST creamy layer quota, leading to frustration among BJP leaders.
Congress leaders condemned the BJP for what they described as unacceptable threats, including a recent remark by Marwah, who warned Gandhi to “behave or meet the same fate as his grandmother.”
Meanwhile, BJP leaders have accused Gandhi of making anti-India statements during his trips abroad.
The Congress protestors insisted that such personal attacks and threats have no place in democracy and must be condemned.
