Bhubaneswar: A Royal Bengal Tiger was sighted at the entry point of Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Bargarh district recently. The magestic young tiger was spotted by a group of tourists and forest personnel when it was strutting along the forest road at around 5 pm on December 1.
Tiger sighting in Odisha occured after a long gap of around five years, which is welcome news amid serious threats as poaching and habitat loss, which the big cats face today. The onlookers took pictures of the tiger for around five to ten minutes and also shot a small video on their cellphones, a forest official said.
“It’s possible due to the teams dedication and round the clock pateolling and conservation measures undertaken at the Sanctuary. Thanks for the support,” the Hirakud Wildlife Division stated. More than 100 cameras are installed in and around the sanctuary and teams have been deployed for tracking the tiger day and night, reports stated.
