Bhubaneswar: A constable was seriously injured after being attacked by an accused at the Muribahal police station in Balangir district.
The accused, identified as Magasir Parabhoi, allegedly assaulted the constable, Sudama Nag, with a wooden log inside the police station.
According to reports, Parabhoi from Dholmandal village under Turekela police limits of Balangir district and his wife had visited Kumbhari village to see a girl for their son’s marriage. However, the girl’s family refused the proposal, citing her young age.
The couple then allegedly kidnapped the girl and fled but Muribahal police rescued her from the Muribahal railway platform and took the couple into custody based on a complaint filed by the girl’s family.
However, on the fateful night, Parabhoi attacked Constable Nag, causing serious injuries. The accused attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police.
The injured constable Nag was rescued and admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College in Balangir.
Upon being informed, the Kantabanji Sub-Divisional Police Officer has reached the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident.
