Consumer Hacks Electricity Meter Reader To Death In Ganjam

Berhampur: In a shocking incident, on Monday a man allegedly hacked an electricity meter reader to death with a sword at Kupati village under the jurisdiction of Gallery police outpost of Tarasingi police station in Ganjam district.

The deceased has been identified as Laxminarayan Tripathi of Gallery village.

According to reports, Tripathi visited Kupati village on Monday to take meter readings of electricity consumers.

In the process, Tripathi visited Govind Sethi’s house to take meter readings. Tripathi and Sethi had a heated argument over some issues. In a fit of rage, Sethi hacked Tripathi on his neck and hand. Tripathi died on the spot.

Hearing the commotion, some villagers rushed to Sethi’s house. Sethi who was hiding inside the house attacked two of the villagers with the sword.

On being informed, Tarasingi police rushed to the spot and have taken the accused into custody.
