Rourkela: Residents of Nala Road in Rourkela of Sundargarh district on Monday pelted stones on a health department team which had gone to trace and pick up the contacts of the latest COVID-19 positive case from the district.
A 29-year-old female from Nala Road, which is a containment zone, had tested positive of COVID-19 today. She was admitted to the Hi-Tech COVID Hospital in Rourkela and the health department team reached the area for contact tracing and follow-up action.
However, the locals started pelting stones on the team and even damaged the barricades which shut the entry and exit to the area. On getting information, DIGP (Western Range) Kavita Jalan and Rourkela SP K.Siva Subramani along with police team reached the spot.
It was after police intervened, the health department team completed their work. Police also held a meeting with the local leaders and warned them of stringent action if they don’t cooperate with the government in its efforts to contain spread of COVID-19.
