Rourkela: Parents and guardians of some students residing at a government tribal hostel in Uditnagar of Rourkela have today demanded removal of the hostel cook after receiving allegations that their wards were being brutally thrashed by him.

As per allegations, the cook identified as Bipin used to beat the students on a regular basis and threatened them of dire consequences if they reported it to their parents. The incident came to light on Thursday when after being thrashed by Bipin, a child informed his family members about his ordeal.

"I had left our child in the hostel for his studies but in the last two to three months the children are being beaten regularly. It was on Thursday the children were thrashed in such a manner that the skin on their arms and thighs had turned black. Not able to bear the pain, our child called us by borrowing somebody's phone. After bringing him home we found that he was unable to walk properly due to the pain," said a guardian of a hostel inmate.

It was further alleged that the children are being threatened to be thrown out of the hostel if they reported the matter to their parents.

However, Headmistress of Udit Nagar High School-cum-Hostel Superintendent Sakuntala Kisan said that she has received the allegations and further step will be taken after conducting a proper probe.
