Bhubaneswar: Shocking scenes unfolded in capital city today morning as a cop brandished his service revolver to disperse agitating workers of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation near Jaydev Vihar Square here.
It so happened that the contractual sanitation workers of BMC blocked the Nandankanan-Airport road at Jaydev Vihar Square demanding payment of their pending salary. They blocked the main road by standing in a single file and burned tyres in mark of protest.
As a result, vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt for around an hour and daily routine life of commuters was affected.
Personnel of Nayapalli police station rushed to the spot to disperse the workers. Shockingly, a cop named Junuru Ali Khan brandished his service revolver to threaten the workers and clear off the road.
While the situation was soon brought under control, the risky move by Khan is currently being investigated by the Commissionerate Police.
