Malkangiri: A sub-inspector of Andhra Pradesh police displayed a great sense of humanity in performing the last rites Kakari Seethamma, mother of dreaded Maoist Kakuri Pandana alias Jagan.
He is an active member of the Andhra-Odisha Special Zonal Committee of the outlawed CPM (Maoist). Seethamma, a native of Gudem Kothaveedhi Mandal in Duppulawada panchayat Kommulawada in Alluri Sitharama Raju District of Andhra Pradesh.
She was suffering from old-age-related complications and passed away on Thursday. The local police had helped the ailing woman with medical help while she was alive. Today morning, SI Jay Ramakrishna of Andhra police facilitated the last rites of the woman appropriately.
The cop performed the rituals as the eldest son of the woman, in the absence of her own sons. He also handed over Rs 10,000 to her family for the last rites and other rituals.
Meanwhile, surveillance has been intensified in Andhra-Odisha border areas apprehending that Jagan might attempt to come to his village, reports stated.
