Balasore: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Khantapada police station of Balasore district, Ratikanta Das along with Sashikanta Mohapatra, Home Guard while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a person (Complainant) for release of his vehicle (a six-wheeler truck)] in connection with a case registered earlier in Khantapada police station, said an official communique of Odisha Vigilance.
Vigilance officials have recovered the entire bribe money from the possession of accused Sashikanta Mohapatra, Home Guard, and seized it.
Following the trap, Vigilance has launched simultaneous searches at three locations of ASI Das, from disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
In this connection, Vigilance has registered a case under section 7 of the P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 against both the accused Das, ASI, and Mohapatra, Home Guard. An investigation is in progress against both the accused persons, the communique added.
