Balasore: The Soro police rescued more than 36 cattle, including cows and bulls, from the Soro College Chowk area in Balasore district late on Saturday night.
The rescue operation was led by Soro Police Station Officer Prabhanshu Shekhar Mishra, with the support of ASI Sunil Raj and Jaya Prakash Behera.
According to reports, the police acted on a tip-off about cattle trafficking and were checking vehicles near the National Highway, close to Soro College Chowk.
During the operation, Soro police intercepted a container travelling from Bhadrak to West Bengal. The driver, however, fled the scene.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered and rescued 36 cattle inside the container. The vehicle was subsequently seized and transported to the police station for further investigation.
The rescued cattle have been transported to a cowshed in Maitapur. A case has been registered, and the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
