Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed three senior officers – DG Fire Services, Sudhanshu Sarangi, Industry Secretary Hemant Sharma and MD OMC, Balwant Singh to Balasore, to supervise and support rescue operations in the aftermath of the Coromandel Express tragedy in Balasore.
Similarly, Minister, Revenue and Disaster Management, Pramila Mallick and Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu have been rushed to Bahanaga, in Balasore, where the train accident took place today evening.
“The ODRAF Team at Balasore has proceeded to the spot for search and rescue immediately. Collector, Balasore has also been directed to reach the spot to make all necessary arrangements and intimate the SRC if any additional help is required from the State level,” a note shared by the SRC’s office stated.
Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena said that Medical Colleges at Balasore and Cuttack, hospitals in the three districts have been placed on full readiness to cater to the injured passengers.
“Total, 3 NDRF, 4 ODRAF, several fire services units, more than 50 ambulances, gas lights have been mobilised and doctors alerted. All efforts for search, relief and rescue are in full swing,” Jena said.
