Bhubaneswar: Odisha is fully prepared in line with the advisories issued in connection with coronavirus.
“We are fully prepared. So there is no matter for any concern,” stated Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department at the Lokseva Bhawan here today.
Briefing media persons after attending a meeting called by Union Cabinet Secretary with all States on the emerging situation with regard to coronavirus through video conferencing, Dhal said that there was no Odisha specific issue.
“All the instructions/advisories were general in nature. We have also told earlier that our State is sufficiently prepared. In fact whatever advisories have been issued by the WHO (World Health Organisation) as well as the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare we are doing that,” the Principal Secretary informed.
Dhal informed that two passengers who had come on the Malaysia flight on Wednesday have given a self-declaration that they had visited China in the last one month.
“We have kept details of their name, address, etc. We are in contact with them. Since they were asymptomatic we have advised them for home isolation. Our health team will get in touch with them on a daily basis,” he added.
The Principal Secretary further informed that at today’s meeting it was decided that any person who has visited Wuhan area of Hubei province in China in the last 14 days and has symptoms will be isolated, in the event of the person being asymptomatic he will be advised for home isolation but his blood sample will be drawn and sent to NIV (National Institute of Virology) Pune.
He said that blood samples can be collected at two places i.e SCB Medical College & Hospital and Regional Medical Research Center (RMRC) Bhubaneswar.
