Bargarh: The police and district administration conducted a surprise raid following allegations of counterfeit ghee production near Barahagoda Square on the outskirts of Bargarh town.
The operation late on Tuesday night was led by Bargarh Sub-Collector Prasanna Kumar Pandey, with active participation from officials of the Bargarh Rural Police Station.
During the raid, the authorities uncovered an illegal ghee manufacturing unit operating in the area.
Officials sealed the plant on the spot and seized large quantities of ghee prepared at the unit along with other raw materials and equipment used in the production process. Two individuals connected with the operation were detained for questioning.
According to sources, a detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the scale of the illegal operation and its distribution network. Legal action will be initiated based on the findings of the investigation.
Local residents alleged that such illicit activities have been continuing for a long time on the outskirts of the town. The incident has sparked widespread discussion and concern among the public regarding food safety and regulatory enforcement.
Authorities have assured strict action against those involved and emphasized that regular inspections will be intensified to curb similar illegal practices in the district.
