Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, two dead bodies, a woman and a man, were found hanging inside a hotel room on Chakratirtha Road in Puri. The couple, residents of West Bengal, had checked into the hotel two days prior to the gruesome discovery.
The bodies were discovered when hotel authorities, sensing trouble, called the police after the couple failed to respond to their calls. Upon breaking open the door, the police found the lifeless bodies. The Sea Beach Police have launched an investigation and seized the bodies for post-mortem examination.
While the exact reason behind their death is yet to be ascertained, preliminary findings suggest it might be a case of suicide. According to the authorities, the couple appeared to have died two days ago. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Puri SP Pinak Mishra stated that the police received a report from hotel staff about a hotel room with no response. Following standard procedure, the police broke open the door in the presence of an executive magistrate. Inside, the bodies of a man and a woman were found hanging. The man is estimated to be between 30-35 years old, and the woman between 25-30 years old.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple is from Burdwan, West Bengal, and has been staying at the hotel since August 9. The forensic team is currently collecting more information. Initial findings suggest that the incident was a suicide. The bodies have been recovered and sent for post-mortem, the SP added.
