Jeypore: A couple went missing in the Jalaput reservoir after their boat capsized while crossing the river at Jabagada village, under Machhkund police station in Koraput district.
The tragic incident occurred when Krushna Parki and his wife, Pratima, from Jabagada village were returning home after harvesting paddy from their farm on the other side of the Jalaput reservoir.
While returning, the boat lost its balance and capsized, resulting in the couple going missing. Despite the family’s extensive search efforts in the evening, the couple remained untraced. The villagers reported that the couple had gone to harvest paddy, but when the boat was not found at the river crossing, it was suspected that the boat had capsized and the couple had gone missing.
Local Sarpanch, Raj Kishore Lendu, announced that a rescue operation will be conducted in the reservoir tomorrow.
