Jagatpur (Cuttack): In a hit-and-run case a man and his wife were killed after the motorcycle in which they were travelling was run over by an unidentified truck at Nrusingha Bazar under Jagatpur police limits in Cuttack district today evening. However, the couple’s four-year-old son has luckily survived the deadly accident with injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Anirudha Jena (40) and Ritanjali Jena (35).
According to reports, Anirudha of Puran village of Mahana panchayat under Salipur police limits of Cuttack district today morning along with his wife and four-year-old son had gone to Sakshigopal temple in Puri district on his bike for darshan.
In the evening while they were returning home by Cuttack-Chandbali road on their bike they were hit by an unidentified truck at Nrusingha Bazar.
Locals rushed them to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Anirudha and his wife Ritanjali dead. The couple’s critically injured son has been admitted to a private hospital here.
On being informed Jagatpur police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the tragic accident.
