**Nuapada:** In a heart wrenching incident, a couple was set ablaze along with their house by their niece at Padampur village under Khadiala Block here in the wee hours of Saturday night. During the mishap, the woman succumbed to her injuries while her husband survived severe burn injuries.
The deceased woman has been identified as Hema Patel and her husband has been identified as Kasi Patel.
According to the reports, the mishap took place when the couple were sleeping inside their house on yesterday night when their niece (Chaitanya Patel) allegedly set ablaze their house. While Hema died on the spot due to asphyxia, her husband survived critical injuries.
The accused is suspected to be mentally unstable.
The locals rescued Kasi Patel and rushed him to Khadiala Sub-Divisional Hospital. They later handed over the accused niece to the Khadiala Police.
The police is further investigating into the matter.
