Couple Thrashed On Suspicion Of Witchcraft In Odisha's Mayurbhanj

Bangriposi: A married couple was thrashed by villagers at Balikhani under Bangiriposi police limits of Mayurbhanj district on Saturday on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.

Reportedly, one Babul Hembram and his wife were suffering from fever since long. After trying various treatments they consulted a sorcerer, who named fellow villagers Mangal Hasda and his wife Amba Hasda to be the reason behind it.

Following it five villagers attacked Amba, alleging her to be a witch. Mangal also faced wrath of the villagers while attempting to save his wife.

Based on a complaint filed by Mangal, a case has been registered against the five persons at Bangiriposi Police Station and a probe in this regard has been initiated.
