Couple Trampled To Death By Wild Elephant In Bargarh

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a couple was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Dhandupali village under Paikamal police limits in Bargarh district late Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Balaram Rana and his wife Shashi Rana, residents of Dhandupali.

According to reports, the couple had been guarding their crops in the field when the elephant attacked them. The animal also damaged the crops in the area.

Family members discovered the bodies on Tuesday morning and alerted local authorities. The incident has triggered panic among villagers, with demands for immediate action to prevent further human-wildlife conflict.

Forest officials have reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
