Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, semi-decomposed bodies of two youths — a male and a female, who were missing for the past three days, were found behind a garage in the Tamsa forest of Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Friday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Nabin Madkami and Nande Madkami of MV7 village in Tamsa panchayat of Malkangiri district.
According to reports, Nabin and Nande had eloped on Tuesday last. After the family members of the youths failed to trace their whereabouts, they lodged a missing complaint at the Malkangiri police station.
On Friday morning, some children playing near the garage were disturbed by a foul smell and started searching for the origin of the smell. Their search led them behind the garage where they discovered the two bodies. They informed the elders at Tamsaarokoli village, a hamlet close to the forest as well as MV7 village, and the latter informed the police.
Soon, a team led by Malkangiri SDPO Shan Patel and Model Police Station IIC reached the spot and recovered the bodies. The police launched a probe into the incident after sending the bodies for post-mortem. SDPO Shan Patel said that a preliminary investigation suggested that the duo committed suicide by consuming poison.
Meanwhile, a scientific team from Korapur has reached the spot for further investigation.
