**Kendrapada**: In an impressive display of bravery and courage, a seven-year-old girl saved a four-year-old boy from drowning in a pond in Kendrapada’s Rajnagar block on Wednesday.
Swarna Sujata, the brave girl who performed the heroic act saw the four-year-old Sai Abhiram slip and fall into the water while he was playing near the pond. Without wasting any time, Sujata ran to the pond and entered the neck-deep water by catching hold of the grass growing along the banks with one hand for support. With the other hand, she pulled Sai out of water to safety.
On reaching the bank, Sujata screamed for help and soon the locals gathered around and took Sai to the Rajnagar Community Health Centre for treatment. The boy was reported to be fine after sometime.
Meanwhile, the girl’s bravery was highly appreciated by the locals. Praising her presence of mind, the villagers have requested the administration to recommend Swarna Sujata’s name for the Bravery Award.
