Jharsuguda: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court here today allowed the Crime Branch (CB) to take prime accused in former Health Minister Naba Das murder case, dismissed ASI of police Gopal Krishna Das on a further remand of five days.
The court further granted permission for conduct of narco analysis and polygraph tests of Gopal.
The Crime Branch investigating the former Health Minister’s murder case had sought the court’s permission for conducting narco analysis and polygraph tests of prime accused Gopal.
Gopal whose second phase four-day police remand ends today was produced before the JMFC court today.
“Gopal Das was again produced in the court today. The Crime Branch had sought to him on five-day remand. Their main objective was to conduct his narco and polygraph tests. The court first sought to know from Gopal Das on whether he was consenting to undergo the tests. Gopal told the court in the affirmative,” informed Remand Advocate Hari Shankar Agrawal.
The Crime Branch on Tuesday with Gopal conducted crime scene recreation at Gandhi Chowk of Brajrajnagar amid tight security.
Gopal in front of Crime Branch officials gave a demonstration of how he had managed to enter the crowd, pull out his pistol and fire at Minister Naba Das. He also explained how he was overpowered, etc. The crime scene recreation had taken around one hour.
Former Minister Naba Das was murdered in broad daylight on January 29, when he was in Brajarajnagar’s Gandhi Chowk to attend a party programme. He was allegedly shot at from point blank range by Gopal Krishna who was on traffic control duty.
The Minister was initially rushed to the district headquarters hospital here and was airlifted from Jharsuguda in a critical condition.
He succumbed to his injuries in the evening on the same day at Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar while undergoing treatment. The bullet fired by Gopal Krishna had pierced through the heart and lung of the Minister and exited.
