COVID 19: 1500 Odia Migrants Screened In Ganjam, Advised Self-Quarantine

Berhampur: About 1500 Ganjam residence who had migrated to Maharashtra and Gujarat for work returned today and were screened at Berhampur railway station. Their personal and travel details were also noted down and advised self-quarantine.

Ganjam Collector Vijay Amrut Kulange briefed regarding return of the Odia migrants via Konark Express, Puri-Ahmedabad Intercity Express, Garib Rath from the western states. He said, “Keeping in mind the rise of positive cases in Maharashtra, we are screening at the station itself. We have also made them fill a form with their personal details and travel details. As of now they are not showing any signs but we will be keeping track of them.”

He added that the migrants will be dropped off at their homes. “Lockdown in Ganjam district has almost reached a 100 per cent with plying of buses and trains stopped. We have had full cooperation from all locals till now and if we can continue the same till March 29 then we effectively control further contamination,” added Kulange.
