Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has withdrawn containment zone order from Sundarpada and area covering the revenue villages of Jadupur and Begunia, informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chand Chaudhary on Monday.
Addressing media at Geeta Govinda Sadan here, Chaudhary informed that containment order has been withdrawn from two out of the five containment zones in Bhubaneswar.
Prior to withdrawal of the order four rounds of house-to-house survey has been conducted in the areas. People with travel history and COVID symptoms were tested and the decision to withdraw the order was taken based on the results.
However, Chaudhary asserted that house-to-house survey will continue in the area for seven more days as a preventive measure to identify any more symptomatic case.
Chaudhary thanked the residents of the containment zones for their cooperation in the operation. Expressing his regret for any problem faced by the residents he clarified that it was necessary for the safety of all.
He further expressed his thanks to the ICDS and health department staff who conducted house-to-house survey in the areas, the police officials for barricading the areas and other officials who ensured supply of essentials in the area and sanitation.
