Covid-19: Case Positivity Ratio In Odisha On Decline, Encouraging Sign, Says Dr Pati

Bhubaneswar: Active Covid-19 cases are on the decline particularly in Ganjam and Gajapati, commented Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar Director Sanghamitra Pati.

“In fact active cases have stabilized in Ganjam, maybe it’s moving towards plateauing,” said Dr Pati briefing reporters here today.

The RMRC Director stated that case positivity ratio in the State is declining which is an encouraging sign.

“If you might have observed initially case positivity was very low, then somewhere midway case positivity was higher and now it is gradually decreasing, which is an encouraging sign,” Dr Pati pointed out.

“When we will observe that new cases detected are from among the contacts of earlier cases then we can deduce that transmission is gradually coming under control. This is a big indication,” she added.

The RMRC Director clarified it’s not necessary that when infection in Ganjam will be at its peak Jharsuguda too will have its peak at the same time.

“Ganjam has reached its peak now may be Bhubaneswar is reaching its peak then some other place may peak. When the curves in all the districts get plateaued Odisha’s curve will be plateaued,” Dr Pati stated.
