Bhubaneswar: We all are hopeful that Covid-19 cases will peak in August or by the first week of September and then decrease by September-October, stated Director of Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Dr Ajay Parida.
Speaking to reporters here, Dr Parida however, maintained that it is again a prediction and nothing concrete can be said since the virus is dynamic.
Despite the increase in testing for Covid-19 in Odisha, positivity rate-the percentage of people who test positive for the virus of those overall who have been tested is very low, which is the comforting factor, he said.
If we can continue with the trend, then it will be the best news for us, Dr Parida added.
“Tests have increased, transmission of infection is low and death rate is decreasing, taking these aspects into account Odisha is in a better position as compared to other States,” he pointed out.
The ILS Director cautioned that while the positivity rate had dipped in Kerala it has been observed to be increasing again.
Dr Parida informed that second phase research on the virus with 128 samples collected from various districts is underway and variant strains will be known in the first week of September.
