Bhubaneswar: After logging over 500 active Covid-19 cases for two successive days, the daily caseload in Odisha declined to 388 in the last 24 hours. The new cases were detected after testing 6,964 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
According to the Odisha Health Department, the test positivity rate (TPR) in Odisha now stands at 5.57%, while the state has 3,975 active cases.
On Friday and Saturday, Odisha reported 573, the highest in the last eight months, and 526 fresh infections respectively. The daily caseload had declined to 424 on Thursday (April 27) after 542 the previous day (April 26).
The number of samples being tested has also declined below 7,000. Earlier, anything between 7,000 and 8,000 samples was being tested every day.
The state also witnessed a decline in the weekly TPR (April 22 to April 28) with Boudh topping the list with 27.38%, followed by Sonepur (25.37), Sundargarh (20.31), Sambalpur (17.74), Kalahandi (11.44) and Nuapada (10.79).
Notably, the weekly TPR had shot above 45% in Sambalpur between April 16 and April 22.
