Khordha: The district administration and Health Department officials today conducted surprise checks at nursing homes and other clinical establishments here to check for strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.
The officials checked for proper maintenance of social distancing norms, COVID corners, register for recording travel history of patients, etc.
“On instructions from the Collector, we as a team comprising of a magistrate and police personnel visited clinical establishments. There has been some improvement in comparison to what we had found during our last visit. In most of the establishments we visited, there has been a drop in the number of patients. Social distancing and registers are being maintained. However, some have not maintained a proper register of training on infection control to their staff. We asked them to maintain it, which they will be doing,” said ADMO, District Headquarters Hospital, Khordha Dr Raghunath Nayak.
Dr Nayak pointed out that some institutions were found to be locked, the ultrasound centres that used to attract large crowds are closed today.
“I don’t know whether somebody has tipped them about our visit today,” he quipped.
“We have received complaints that social distancing norm is not being maintained in some nursing homes. We have observed that most of the latest cases are infections got through these hospitals. We are checking if they are adhering to COVID protocols or not, whether they have IP certification or not. We have found discrepancies in certification,” informed Municipal Officer, Swetapadma D Satpathy.
“Anyone found flouting COVID-19 protocol will be sealed as per Collector’s orders,” she warned.
