Bhubaneswar: Around three-fourth of the population in Odisha have developed antibodies against COVID-19. As per the sero-survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 73% of people surveyed have developed antibodies to fight SARS-CoV-2 or the novel Coronavirus, said Dr Sanghamitra Pati, Director RMRC-ICMR, Bhubaneswar.
The announcement has been made by ICMR following sero surveys in 12 districts of the State. Total 93 per cent of health workers have also developed antibody against the virus while 70 per cent of children have also developed antibody. In Khurda, the maximum 81 percent people have developed the antibodies, she added.
In Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Jharsuguda, 68% of people have developed antibodies against COVID-19. In most of the districts around 70% of the people have developed antibodies. “Around 66 per cent of people, who took the first dose of vaccine, have developed antibody,” Dr Pati added.
