Bhubaneswar: To facilitate Convalescent Plasma Therapy for the treatment of serious novel Coronavirus-infected patients, plasma banks will be setup at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Pradipta Mohapatra said today.
Addressing a press conference here, Mohapatra urged cured COVID-19 patients to come forward and donate their plasma. With one set of plasma, two patients can be cured, he said. Government will provide transport and accommodation for COVID recovered patients willing to donate plasma. A dedicated helpline will be started for the plasma donors soon, said Mohapatra.
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that plasma bank will start at Ispat General Hospital In Rourkela. While SCB Medical College is the nodal agency for plasma therapy in the State, SUM Hospital and KIIMS hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Aswini Hospital in Cuttack have started providing plasma treatment.
