COVID-19: Khurda Moves Into Red Zone As Active Cases Cross 2,500-Mark, 50% Of State Tally

Bhubaneswar: With the number of active COVID-19 cases in Khurda crossing 2,500, the district has come under the red zone. Though there is no official word on this, the COVID Dashboard of Government Odisha shows Khurda district’s map in marked in red (colour) with 2,856 active cases on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases in the State is 5,811, as on Thursday which means, Khurda district alone contributes around 51% of the active cases in Odisha.

On October 12, out of 615 new positive cases in Odisha, Khurda reported 323 COVID cases, which is more than 50% of the State’s tally. Out of 7 COVID deaths reported in Odisha on Tuesday, 2 are from Khurda. Similarly, out of six COVID deaths reported on October 11, two were from Khurda.

The district has reported a total 1,71,653 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,524 persons have succumbed to COVID-19. 10 persons who were suffering from COVID died due to other reasons in Khurda district, the COVID dashboard indicates.
