Bhubaneswar: Odisha Legislative Assembly has been declared shut down for today after a relative of an employee of the State Assembly tested positive for COVID-19.
“A relative of an employee of the Vidhan Sabha has tested positive for COVID-19. So, therefore, the Vidhan Sabha will remain shut down for today for sanitization of the entire premises as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of the virus. Since there will be weekend shut down on Saturday and Sunday, a decision on the next step will be taken on Monday through video conferencing,” informed Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro today.
“The employee might have been affected so we have sent him for swab test. Apart from that a few days back a meeting of a Vidhan Sabha committee was held. An MLA who was present in that meeting has later tested positive. So all employees who were present during that committee meeting have also been sent for swab test,” Patro added.
