Bhubaneswar: No private vehicle can move on the roads in the Odisha Capital without a proper vehicle pass obtained from the local police station, informed Twin City Commissioner of Police, Sudhansu Sarangi.
“In view of the restrictions imposed as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, vehicle users who have to take out their vehicles for emergency work have to collect necessary vehicle pass from the nearest police station. Even those who have permission to move during the lockdown too have to obtain vehicle pass which includes media personnel,” said Sarangi talking to the media.
He stated that while the Home department will be issuing passes to employees of essential departments of Lokseva Bhawan, IIC of the local police station will be issuing passes to hospital employees and media personnel. People not having necessary passes will be asked to alight from the vehicle during checks, he added.
Sarangi said while IT companies have been asked to reduce staff, passes can be obtained from the IIC of the local police station.
The Police Commissioner said that this step is being taken since some people are not obeying the orders issued under lockdown. He has asked the concerned people to collect passes by tomorrow evening.
He said while police is keeping a close watch on those breaking rules, violators are being arrested on being caught.
