Berhampur: A JEE aspirant who had tested positive for COVID-19 was barred from sitting for the entrance test here today. The candidate had tested positive for coronavirus a few days back and was in home isolation.
Today morning at around 8 am he reached the centre, a private engineering college here and was completing entry formalities. However, in half an hour, the authorities conducting the JEE asked him to leave the premises.
Berhampur Sub-Collector Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb said the agency in contract for conducting JEE Main exam spoke to the candidate and asked him to leave.
The private firm (contractor) got a communication from the National Testing Agency (NTA) for not allowing the candidate to appear the exams, he said. The communication mentioned that special cases for JEE Main will be accommodated later.
Following this, the candidate who had come to the exam centre wearing a PPE kit, left the premises in an ambulance. “The NTA took the decision and advised TCS to ask the candidate to leave the centre. The candidate was given in writing and he was satisfied with the explanation,” Shinde said.
