Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to mobilize all sevayats (servitors of the temple) and their family members who are above 18 years of age to get vaccinated against Covid-19 as everyone above 18 years of age will be eligible to get vaccinated from May 1, informed SJTA Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar.
Kumar said meetings will be held with sevayats and their Nijogs (servitor bodies) in this regard.
“As work for the Raths (chariots) will begin in the month of May we will prioritize vaccination of Maharana, Bhoi, Chitrakar, Rupakar, Darji and all other sevayats connected with the Raths,” he explained.
The SJTA Chief Administrator informed that a Covid Care Centre (CCC) will be started from today at the Bhakta Nivas and added that arrangements are underway for the deployment of doctors and nurses as required.
He said that it has been decided to provide bedside oxygen at all beds at this CCC.
“We have made the request and am sure all beds at the CCC will have oxygen facilities,” he added.
Kumar said the CCC will have an ambulance to shift patients to the District Headquarters Hospital (DDH) which will be the first referral centre in case the condition of some patient gets serious.
The SJTA Chief Administrator further informed that 32 sevayats have returned after attending the Kumbh Mela and they are under watch, one out of them has tested positive for Covid-19.
“He is undergoing treatment as per protocol,” he added.
Kumar said that already one Homoeopathic camp for the sevayats and their family members has been organised and talks are underway with AYUSH doctors for organising more such Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic camps.
