Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today instructed officials to ensure that Help Desks at Covid hospitals and other facilities where Covid patients are being treated should be functional and cater to the needs of the distressed kin.
“It should be ensured that family members of persons being treated in Covid hospitals get proper information about them on time. The personnel engaged at the Help Desks at these medical facilities need to have a humane approach to the job,” Naveen said at a high-level review meeting on Covid-19 today.
Another point which the Chief Miniter stressed on at the meeting was vaccination. The public should reach the session sites conveniently and get the Covid jabs at ease. Crowds at the vaccination centres should be strictly checked.
“Social distancing at vaccination centres is very crucial. Proper communication / announcement should be done in advance to inform the public about vaccination centre location and timings,” Naveen said.
Mask is a weapon against Covid and the availability of masks to lower strata of the society needs to be ensured. For this purpose, the MLAs can spend up to Rs 50 lakh from their MLA LAD funds, the Chief Minister had announced during an All-Party meet on Monday. The Legislators have been advised to collect masks from Mision Shakti groups and distribute those among poor people.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra apprised that as per directions of the Chief Minister, door-to-door survey/testing will be carried out in the State from May 24. Appropriate directions have been issued to the departments concerned to execute this task. “The Collectors have been instructed to personally monitor Oxygen logistics and Help Desks at Covid hospitals,” he said.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) PK Mohapatra, DG Police Abhay spoke at the meeting. The meeting was moderated by Secretary To CM (5T) VK Pandian. Among others, COVID Observers Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Satyabrata Sahu, Bishnupada Sethi, Collectors of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, Municipal Commissioners of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were present.
