Bhubaneswar: As COVID-19 scare has gripped the entire world, villages all over the State have taken a bold and yet novel step of sealing their entry points for all. The villagers have also taken turns to make sure that the rest of them follow the regulations of the lockdown.
In several villages, youths were seen holding posters saying in Odia “No outsiders will be allowed inside the village.” They have also installed handwashing points, having soap, water and clean towels, which are mandatory for all leaving the house.
Barricades were put up at entry points by the village committees. The barricades at the entry points will not only help prevents outsiders but also stops villagers from leaving. Youths and in some case even women worked in shifts guarding these gates. They have also fixed specific time slots for getting vegetables, groceries and other essential items.
Several villages also saw the return of migrants from other states and as mandated by the State they were put on mandatory self-isolation for 14 days and take necessary measures.
