Covid-19 Second Wave In Odisha: Many Politicians Test Positive

Bhubaneswar: Several political leaders from Odisha including a minister, Leader of Opposition, two sitting MLAs, a sitting MP and a former minister have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last couple of days during the second wave of the pandemic.

Former minister and senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Bijoyshree Routray has tested positive for Covid-19. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has wished for his speedy recovery.

Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bhawanipatna MLA Pradipta Kumar Naik who was admitted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar on April 20 after he tested positive for Covid-19. He shifted to the ICU on April 26 after his condition deteriorated. He has been put on ventilator support since May 5.

Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Law, Housing & Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena has tested positive for Covid-19. Jena on Friday took to Twitter to inform that he has tested positive for Covid-19.

Two sitting BJD MLAs Prafulla Samal and Raghunath Gomango have tested positive for Covid-19.

Further, BJP Rajya Sabha member Padma Bibhusan and famous sculptor Raghunath Mahapatra has tested positive for Covid-19.

Mahapatra has been admitted AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for treatment.
