Sambalpur: The Burla-based Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) will remain closed till July 21 to contain the spread of COVID-19, read an order from the district Collector released on Tuesday.
As per the order, VSSUT, Burla will remain closed from July 15 to 21 with the following directions.
- The employees of VSSUT, Burla who are kept under home quarantine should not move out of their houses till completion of home quarantine period.
- Except main entrance, al other entrance gates of VSSUT, Burla are to be closed.
- Proper infection prevention protocol of COVID-19 is to ensured at all level.
- Vice Chancellor, VSSUT and Registrar, VSSUT, Burla are to ensure that all instructions in this order are followed. In case of any urgent activity to be undertaken, prior permission of the undersigned (Sambalpur Collector) is to be availed.
On July 1, one of its lady lecturers from Civil department had tested positive for the virus. Contact tracing was undertaken and accordingly, several employees of the Civil department were put in home quarantine.
On June 30, the lady’s husband had passed away due to COVID-19 in Angul. Soon after that she too had tested positive.
