Dhenkanal: The video of a woman trying to resuscitate her husband at Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital is making rounds on social media since yesterday. The man who was tested positive for COVID-19, collapsed at the entrance of the fever and flu clinic of the DHH.
After witnessing her husband collapsing, the woman made repeated attempts to revive him, but failed. She was sobbing helplessly at the doorway and seeking help. The ordeal of the woman was recorded on camera by locals and shared on social media. The video grabbed eyeballs, with many pointing out medical negligence.
However, the Chief District Medical Officer Dr Sujatarani Mishra has denied to such allegations. She said the man had comorbidity such as high BP and diabetes and was undergoing treatment at Angul. He had come to the Dhenaknal DHH for antigen (COVID-19) test on Monday.
“His Blood Pressure was very high. Since he belongs to Dhenkanal, his family members brought him back here from Angul. His antigen test was positive for COVID-19. He collapsed while sitting, it was a massive heart attack,” Dr Mishra said.
“There was no point is pumping his chest because our specialists had gone and checked his status. The man was no more. We informed the municipality because this was a COVID case. The family members cooperated completely with us for disposal of the body,” she added.
