Bhubaneswar: Since Covid cases are rising elsewhere so chances of a fourth wave cannot be ruled out completely and the need of the hour is to remain prepared to fight it out, said Director of Health Services Dr Bijay Mohapatra.
“It’s a pandemic. When cases are rising elsewhere by the grace of god we are in better position. But we cannot say that the chances of cases rising here is zero,” informed Dr Mohapatra during his interaction with reporters here today.
Always one should remain prepared to fight it out as per the advice and instructions of the technical advisory group, Dr Mohapatra added.
The Director of Health Services pointed out that since Covid cases are surging elsewhere in the world and there is marginal rise in cases in our country surveillance is being carried out as per the instructions of Government of India with modifications as per local requirements under the direction of the State government.
He informed that during surveillance positivity rate has been found to be very low still surveillance is continuing.
A few beds have been earmarked in hospitals for the purpose and that can be increased if the requirement so arises, he added.
He said that arrangements have been made for testing of samples.
He further stated that at the basic level fever and symptomatic surveillance as per the guidelines of Government of India is being carried out.
