Covid: Odisha Nods For Immediate Redeployment Of Sepoys In Police Stations

Bhubaneswar:  In a bid to overcome staff shortage at police stations during the Covid pandemic, Odisha Government has cleared the path for the immediate redeployment of sepoys of two Special Security battalions in the police stations by relaxing the eligibility criteria.

A letter in this regard, addressed to the Odisha DGP by the State Home Special Secretary, mentioned, “Government has been pleased to relax the provisions of Odisha Police Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Constables) Order, 2010 allowing filling up of 100% vacancies by redeployment instead of 20%, and the eligibility criteria for redeployment has been relaxed from 15 years to service to 02 years.”

“Further, the minimum age for redeployment has been relaxed from 40 years to 23 years in respect of the Sepoys of 1st OSAP (SS) Bn., Sambalpur and 2nd OSAP (SS) Bn., Keonjhar as a one time measure keeping in view the urgent need of strengthening of Civil Code during Covid pandemic situation when full-fledged recruitment process cannot be done following comprehensive recruitment procedure,” the letter added.
