Covid Vaccination Mandatory For Odisha Govt Staff To Attend Office At Bhubaneswar From July 1

Bhubaneswar: Covid double-dose vaccination shall be mandatory for all State Government employees to attend office at Bhubaneswar from July 1.

Additional Chief Secretary General Administration & Public Grievance Department Sanjeev Chopra has written a letter to all Departments and Heads of Departments at Bhubaneswar in this connection.

“A special drive for vaccination of Government employees of all the Departments/sub-ordinate Offices/PSUs at Bhubaneswar was undertaken with effect from 10th to 20th June 2021. In the process, the first dose of the vaccine was administered to about 6,000 employees. The second phase of the vaccination drive is in progress with effect from 17 June 2021 for complete vaccination of the employees,” said Chopra in the letter.

The Additional Chief Secretary has mentioned that Nodal Officers of all the Departments have been requested to ensure full vaccination of all employees of offices located at Bhubaneswar to enable full-fledged functioning of offices with effect from 1st July 2021.

The objective of the exercise is to ensure that a working environment is provided to the employees in discharge of official responsibilities, Chopra added.

The letter states, “…it has been decided all employees of Departments/sub-ordinate Offices/PSUs at Bhubaneswar must get double doses of the vaccine and attend office regularly from 1st July 2021”.

In case any employee has been unable to get vaccinated for medical or some other compelling reason, s/he has to apply for an exemption to the Head of the Department / Organisation.

On receipt of such application(s), the matter can be considered on a case-to-case basis, the letter clarified.

“Employees who are neither vaccinated nor exempted would not be permitted to attend office w.ef 1st July 2021 and their absence will be treated as wilful,” the letter said.
