Cuttack: The district today received Covishield vaccine for its five vaccination centres catering to the areas under the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and six centres for the rural areas.

On January 15 morning hours, the vaccine will be distributed to the 11 centres in the district as the launching is on January 16. It was received from Bhubaneswar and was brought straight to the City Hospital here amid Commissinerate Police protection. It has been stored here as per the prescribed norms and guarded by the security force.

Cuttack Covid Nodal Officer Umesh Chandra Ray informed media, “The vaccination drive will be launched on Saturday (January 16). Out of the 160 centres in the State, Cuttack has five centres in CMC area while six centres have been earmarked in the rural areas. Per session site, 100 recipients have been selected. Thus, 1100 recipients will be vaccinated on the launching day in Cuttack district.”

“We have received Covishield vaccine manufactured at Pune Serum Institute. We request all to get vaccinated. There is no possibility of any bad reaction,” he stated.

He also informed, “Registration process for the vaccination purpose has already been completed here in the district. Only 100 recipients out of them are to be selected for each session site. This has also been completed by us. Only the health workers will be vaccinated in the first phase.”

“We will be distributing the vaccine to all the points on January 15 morning hours. We will be making the vaccine available at 7 am on January 16 launching day at two points, like Odia Bazaar and Nimchaouri, as there is no ILR for storage capacity,” the Covid Nodal Officer commented.
