Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch Cyber Cell initiated an investigation into a threatening email sent by Khalistani terrorist Pannu to senior journalist Akshay Sahoo. The email, received at 9:04 am today, contained menacing messages in both Odia and English.
As per reports, after the news spread, a team from the Crime Branch Cyber Cell visited Sahoo’s office to uncover the source of the email, the identity of the sender, and potential links to Khalistani terrorist networks.
Following the visit, a Crime Branch official stated, “We received a complaint from Sahoo regarding the threatening email. Our team visited his office to gather information and investigate the source of the email.
The probe will also examine whether Pannu’s name was misused or if the email was genuinely sent by the Khalistani terrorist. Additionally, authorities are investigating potential sleeper cells operating in the state and possible plans to disrupt law and order, said sources.
It is pertinent to mention that Pannun in his threat message to Sahoo has announced a staggering Rs 25 lakh cash reward for anyone daring to hoist the Khalistani flag in Bhubaneswar during the DGP conference.
Apart from the text email, Pannun has allegedly sent an audio email to the Bhubaneswar-based journalist. The audio message, laden with ominous intent, has explicitly warned to avoid flying from Bhubaneswar International Airport on December 1, ominously declaring it a ‘D-Day’.
Sahoo received the unsettling email around 9:04 a.m. Initially, Sahoo brushed it off as spam, a common occurrence in today’s digital age. However, as he delved deeper into the email’s content, the gravity of the situation became starkly apparent.
