**Bhubaneswar/Cuttack:** The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Sunday nabbed Dr Motilal Gouda, the suspended Assistant Director of Factories (Medical) from Vizag in Andhra Pradesh.
“A case was registered with the EOW of Crime Branch on June 6 in connection with forgery, cheating, criminal conspiracy, causing disappearance of evidence. Motilal Gouda, along with his accomplices, had conspired to falsify the gazette notification causing financial loss to the government. We had arrested three persons including a middleman and two pathology unit owners after we took over the probe. After his anticipatory bail plea was rejected, he was hiding at various places in Odisha and then moved to Andhra Pradesh. A team was camping in Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram area since last four days. We tracked him based on various inputs and arrested him,” Crime Branch Special DG BK Sharma said.
He will be produced before the court. We will pray in the court to take him on 5-day remand to probe further into the matter and his linkages, Sharma added.
A four-member team headed by IG Arun Bothra was formed to nab him.
On Saturday, vigilance officials conducted raids at his official residential quarters here, his native place located at Chandiput in Gajapati district and his father-in-law’s house at Ashok Nagar in Berhampur town.
It may be recalled here that Gouda had allegedly issued a notice while working as a medical officer in the health department empanelling five pathological laboratories in the state for medical check-up of industrial workers.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch team along with the arrested Gouda have reached Cuttack on Sunday evening.
