Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch team has made significant progress in the Balanga minor girl burn incident with recording the victim’s statement in AIIMS-Delhi. The statement was recorded in the presence of a doctor, a magistrate, female ASI, Crime Branch officer, and a family member. The statement was video recorded.

The Crime Branch team believes the investigation has reached its final stage, with complete details shared with senior officers. A silver finger ring seized from the crime spot has been identified by a local jewellery shopkeeper. The police are investigating how the ring ended up at the crime scene.

The minor girl has undergone skin grafting surgery for deeply burned areas. Her condition is still critical, with a special medical team monitoring her health at AIIMS Delhi. The girl suffered 70-75% burn injuries in the attack.

The incident occurred when miscreants kidnapped the 16-year-old girl and set her on fire in a deserted area. The victim was rescued by locals and initially treated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar before being airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for further treatment. The police have questioned several individuals, and the investigation is underway.

The Crime Branch team will return from Delhi tomorrow.
