Berhampur: A team of Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday visited the home of Minister Naba Das murder case accused Gopal Das, on the outskirts of Berhampur. Gopal’s home is located at Ankuli industrial estate, on the eastern end of Berhampur town.
The sleuths are reportedly questioning Gopal’s family members to know more about his psychological state and whether he had any serious altercations in the recent past. Besides, the CB team is ascertaining Gopal’s movement over the last couple of years to his native and back to the workplace – Brajarajnagar.
Gopal, who shot at Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kisore Das from point blank range last Sunday, originally hails from Jaleswarkhandi village in Purushottampur of Ganjam. He had recently constructed his house at Ankuli where his wife Jayanti, the couple’s son and daughter reside.
Recruited as a constable in 1990-1992, Gopal served at the Reserve police till he was promoted as Assistant SI of Police. Gopal was posted in the Jharasuguda district in 2013 while his family lived in Jaleswarkhandi, reports stated.
