Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch has stepped up its investigation into the death of the FM College student Soumyashree Bisi by interrogating a key eyewitness, Jyotiprakash Biswal, who is currently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
According to reports, a two-member Crime Branch team questioned Jyotiprakash, who sustained severe injuries while trying to save Soumyashree during her self-immolation attempt.
The officials spoke with him for over an hour in the Plastic Surgery Department to understand the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
The team also consulted with doctors overseeing the treatment of Jyotiprakash to take stock of the health condition of Jyoti, who had sustained serious burns to his face, hands, and lungs while trying to save the victim.
It is pertinent to mention that Jyotiprakash’s testimony is considered crucial in reconstructing the events surrounding the incident.
Notably, Jyotiprakash’s bravery in attempting to save the girl has earned widespread praise. However, the government’s failure to provide timely medical assistance has sparked widespread criticism.
Meanwhile, his father, Sanatan Biswal, has appealed to the State government for financial and medical assistance.
