**Bhubaneswar:** Crime cases have been on the rise in capital city in the last couple of days. While chain snatchers have made life miserable, armed miscreants are also on the loose. The security guard of a wedding mandap was allegedly shot at in Tankapani road here late last night.
The injured person has been identified as Gyana Mallik. The guard has been shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment.
According to reports, two miscreants approached Gyana in the night and asked him for a glass of water. When Gyana was busy fetching water, the miscreants shot him and fled the scene. Gyana suffered bullet injuries on his shoulder and screamed for help. Some bystanders reached out to help the victim and he is currently being treated.
In a separate incident, miscreants attacked two youths with stones and wooden sticks while they were sleeping on a footpath near Master Canteen area late last night. The injured youths have also been admitted to Capital hospital.
Commissionerate Police has launched an investigation into both the cases.
